EcoEcumenical's Current Work Project: 2009 Stewardship Gardens

The Stewardship Garden Project is in full swing!

EcoEcumenical has started three gardens at three different sites in Champaign-Urbana: The 1st Mennonite Church, A Woman's Fund, and The Center for Women in Transition. When volunteers are available, EcoEcumenical also helps at the garden located at the Catholic Worker House. EcoEcumenical believes that gardens promote:

  • Community: All ages can daily labor together in the garden.
  • Stewardship: Utilizing local land for growing produce is a responsible use of ecological resources.
  • Outreach: Harvested produce is given to local soup kitchens.
Starting and managing a community garden with volunteers from your community of faith seems like a daunting task. EcoEcumenical is here to provide all the resources that ultimately diminish this fear of starting a Stewardship Garden.

More information and commentary on Stewardship Gardens can be found here.

Getting Involved: If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact EcoEcumenical as soon as possible.
